Sigillum Diaboli: Intro
God of Rage a half demon sought an ultimate weapon. He ventured across all lands to obtain it. This weapon was said to give absurd potency, velocity, and power. It was called the Sigillum Diaboli(Seg-Gill-Um Die-A-Bow-Li). At the moment he only had the Funeralist a less significant version of the Sigillum Diaboli. For you see the Sigillum Diaboli was Gor’s father’s, God Of Mayhem, sword. Gor(Gore) came into possession of the Funeralist when his father passed on. Gor’s mother gave it to Gor when he left to seek out his father’s killer. The Funeralist had vast power. Slay. Resurrect. And turn into any other weapons. Alike or unalike. The Funeralist was yet only a small knife compared to Sigillum Diaboli. Gor would use the Funeralist to bring back his father but this was impossible because he was disintegrated in a fiery conflagration. Gor did not wish to possess the Sigillum Diaboli just to resurrect his father but to avenge his father’s shameful death for he was killed by a powerful demon named Cavoco(Ka-Vow-Ko). Gor needed the Sigillum Diaboli to be capable of destroying Cavoco. So now he sets off onto his journey…<br>
It was late one evening sitting by the fire watching the flames lick up the dried blood upon his blade. For he just recently slain a demon sent by Cavoco. As Gor was reflecting on the last battle he sensed someone was watching him. Between the trees it lurked. Gor sped towards its location, swung his sword onto its left side. Wounded, it crawled a few feet away from where Gor stood. It was another half demon like him.
“ Why were you watching me?” Gor asked.
“I was sent here to murder you but obviously you have wounded me in the process.” He struggled to say as he attended his wound.
“Who sent you?” Gor growled.
“Cavoco,” he said. “ Now finish me like a noble half demon would”, he said as he coughed up another pool of blood.
“No, I will not.” “You may be some use to me, now follow.” Gor said.
The half demon did knowing he’d be killed for failing Cavoco. He never really wished to kill Gor but Cavoco forced him to. This half demon that followed Gor was named Chester Is God but most called him Cig. Cavoco held Cig’s sister Kitt Katt 0; a furious half cat half demon, hostage and Cavoco swore that Kitt would perish if Cig didn’t do as he wished. Cig sensed that Gor was different and could help him free Kitt from the clutches of Cavoco. Cig told Gor of his troubles and requested of him to free Kitt. Gor agreed for he also despised Cavoco. Gor packed up and set off with Cig into the star lit night….
Sigillum Diaboli: The First Sign (ch.1)
Gor and Cig continued through the dark ominous trees. Both ricocheting off the trunks and branches of ancient oak trees. Suddenly Gor stopped. A scent. A scent of a slaughter. Of this unnoticeable scent Gor and Cig increased their pace. The two half demons halted their grueling speed when they emerged from the trees. They gazed upon a maroon mist of blood and innerards.
“This was Cavoco’s doing.”, said Cig “I can smell it.”<br>
Lighthearted was Cig and convinced Gor to help him cremate the remains. Wanting to pursue Cavoco Gor protested but reluctantly agreed. As they were searching the mass grave Cig came across a survivor. It was a young elf. She wore a gold pendant with Her name “Haze”(Hay-Zzz) etched into it. It was the last few minutes of her life. Cig kneeled down to her. There was a broken arrow in her chest. Stained Black (elves blood is black).
Haze faced Cig and muttered “ Save him.”<br>
Cig looked up to a looming Figure standing over him with a raised scythe. As Cig closed his eyes ready to experience death. Gor transformed the Funeralist into a javelin and drove it into the Elf’s right shoulder. He staggered back in pain and removed the Funeralist from him, then threw it to the ground. Cig slashed him with his claws but the elf was too quick even with his injuries. Cig did manage to tear off a necklace of his. He looked at it in the palm of his hand. It was gold and etched in it was his name as well like the girl’s. It read “Dead Echo.”(Deh-ed Ek-O) These elves were related.
“Dead Echo slayed this village but why?” said Cig.
“He’s possessed”, replied Gor. “With the Sigillum Diaboli transformed into a dagger impaled into his spine.
It was the Sigillum Diaboli and its immerse power controlled Echo and convinced him to slay his village.
“Enough talk”, said Echo and swung his scythe at Cig.
Cig avoided his attack and his Suiji(Sue-G) staff upon Echo’s head. Battered was Echo, but he got up and refused to die.
Haze cried “He is my brother, do not kill him.”<br>
Gor and Cig both realized that Cavoco had found the Sigillum Diaboli and was using innocent lives and the sword against them. Echo whipped his scythe around and slashed Cig across the face. Blood strew about Echo’s deadly weapon. Echo charged after Gor about to slice him in half but Gor moved just fast enough to have his cloak torn. Now Gor ran up the scythe buried into the ground and ripped out the Sigillum Diaboli from Echo’s back. Echo fell to the ground no longer influence by that elusive sword. The Sigillum Diaboli, still being under control by Cavoco burned Gor’s hand forcing him to drop it. Soon as it hit the dry earth it evaporated into thin air.
“So close”, said Gor.
Gor looked over to Cig, he was helping Echo limp over to his dying sister and left him to see his sister’s last waking moments. Minutes later Echo quietly walked over to Gor and Cig and nodded. Haze was dead.
Filled with all feelings one could describe Dead Echo gave out a deafening cry. “Cavoco promised me wealth but now all I have is death to my village and my sister.” “I wish to join you in your journey.”<br>
So Echo joined the team they all Cavoco so they all got along.
“Damn him to hell”, Gor said as they set off for another day.
They headed west where the strongest sense of the Sigillum Diaboli could be felt....
Sigillum Diaboli: Humans Arrive (ch.2)
They came upon river and hard-pressed their way through it. They have come a long way but this was yet an indivisible fraction of their perilous journey. The trio was midway through a rock-strewn valley when Gor caught a glimpse of a shadow upon a cliff. It knew it had been spotted and swiftly withdrew from the edge.
“I see it too,” said Echo.
Suddenly a crudely made arrow sped unswervingly for Cig. Easily he deflected it with his Suiji. Cig bounded up the cliff and sliced through the shrubbery. Revealing a teenage human wielding a Vengra longbow. Gor and Echo soon followed Cig and arrived to meet Cig and the boy in a stand off.
“Who are you and do you want?” Cig bellowed.
“Evad (E-Vaa-D) is my name and I seek the Funeralist.” “My aim is off though, from this accursed arm of mine.” He declared.
Gor looked at his arm it was in a load of bloody bandages.
“This pitiful human is no threat to us and it’s best to be on our way,” said Echo.
Agreeing Gor said, “Let’s move out.”<br>
They put their weapons to rest and started heading out. Just as they did so Evad raised his bow and flung a withered arrow at Gor. Gor sensed he was being attacked and avoided the missile but not to have a piece of his ear torn off in the assault. Enraged Gor whipped around and chopped through Evad’s Vengra bow. The splintered wood shot to the ground. Still not able to let go of his anger Gor, with one hand, took the human by the throat and started to asphyxiate him.
“He is nothing but a worthless human let him go,” growled Echo.
“I suppose so,” said Gor as threw Evad against the ground and slid to the very edge of that cliff.
Once again they began to leave when Evad wailed, “I require your assistance.” “I know your grandiose sword can heal others.”<br>
“Who told you so?” said Gor.
“My younger brother, Basak (Baa-sock) a few months back axiom you heal someone with it.” “He is very sick now,” said Evad. “I am an Alchemist and an Archer.” Evad explained as he used alchemy to fix his Vengra. “My alchemy is not strong enough to heal him.” “ So I thought use your sword to heal him.”<br>
“Unfortunately that is impossible, my sword does not heal only resurrect.” Said Gor. “But there is a sword that can.” “I am in search of a sword called the Sigillum Diaboli.”<br>
“My brother knows of where that sword resides he saw a old man bartering with a mysterious drifter by the name of Cavoco.” yelled Evad.
“We must travel to your city,” exclaimed Cig.
Evad led the way and when they arrived they saw Basak hanging from a gargoyle’s fang from the bell tower in a terrifying show. Dripping wet a Crimson river onto the bell. The bell rang a bloody ring stirring the pools of deep, red liquid beneath it and sound waves from the gruesome bell shifted the dense red fog. Cig glanced to a nearby roof and saw the last of Cavoco’s Minions leaving the stained hellhole.
“Resurrect him please,” said Evad.
“I cannot,” replied Gor.
“Why not?” exclaimed Evad.
“If I was to resurrect him he’d go back to his sick suffering self and painfully await a second death,” explained Gor.
“Then I must go with you to slay his killer and become a more advanced alchemist and archer,” Evad said.
“Then I welcome you for we have also been victims of Cavoco’s wrath,” responded Gor.
The now larger group started to head away from the blood stained center and in the direction of Cavoco’s minions.
As they were walking Evad said, “Why do you seek the Sigillum Diaboli?”<br>
“I require its power to slay Cavoco ever since he burned my father alive” Gor explained.
“I will aid you with my skills anyway possible,” responded Evad.
While they all continued in silence Gor thought....."I expect great things from this human he is different from the rest.” “They are not normally this strong.”<br>
A few hours later Cig said “This is enough distance for today.”<br>
“Yes let’s rest, I’ll get a fire going,” responded Echo in agreement.
As they all sat by the blaze Echo was polishing his scythe. Gor sat alone forecasting the next day’s course. Cig was refitting his gauntlets while humming a sad tune and Evad was mouthing a silent prayer in honor of his brother. One by one each warrior fell into a dark slumber. What awaited them tomorrow was yet to be uncloaked.
Sigillum Diaboli: Cavoco Appears
Cig was first to awake that morning. He got up scraping the sleep from his eyes. He staggered over, still filled with sleep, to the rest shaking them awake. When all were up, lethargic and sore, they gathered their things. As they left Evad controlled the early morning dew upon the fire smothering it. Gor looked to the west and then the south. They took the southern route a rigid, rocky and a most distasteful course but Gor felt a strong presence of the Sigillum Diaboli there. The team climbed the rocky terrain. Gor and Cig bounded their way up. Echo used his speed to ricochet between crevasses of the mountain. Evad took some tree branches and transformed them into ice picks. Once the two half demons, elf, and human found an old, dilapidated path they were looking for they followed it. Twisting through the many mountains the path did. High wooden bridges between a few gorges, most rotted out from decades of heavy use. Around high noon they came to a degenerated arch that connected two weathered cliffs.
Echo volunteered to go first, as an elf he was, he was the lightest. As he traversed across, about midway, the arch could not take the weight of even an average elf and began to descend into the dark gullet of the mountain. Quick thinking was Evad he tore a piece of his cloak, turned it into a long rope and tied it to his dissolute arrow. He shot the medieval weaponry across the massive arroyo and nailed a dying birch in the heart of its trunk. Echo quickly grabbed the rope as he sped down into sure bereavement and sustained his way athwart. Soon they were all across using Evad’s rope. Worn out was Echo from this incident they all decided to take a small breather. After a while Gor stood up and the rest followed.
Along the conduit Gor spotted a small community and they all began to direct their attention to it. It appeared to be under attack. All of them hastily ran towards it. When they arrived they saw Cavoco’s Minions marauding the whole municipality. It was a Half Elf town. (Half elf, half demon) Woman, children, and men alike all attempted to defend themselves but superior were Cavoco’s soldiers demon they were. Demons were the master race and ruled most of Novayne (The land in which this story takes place). They all watched the havoc Cavoco was bringing to this world and each combatant tightened their grasp on their bludgeon as each half elf perished.
When an elder half elf’s lance was broken and was about to be slain Gor sprinted behind the demon. Leapt and pierced it through the back of the décolletage and out the mouth, then cleaved the Funeralist through the zenith of the demon’s head. The demon dropped to the dirt still pumping blood through the neck like a fountain. Echo was backing up Gor and ripped a hefty fissure into an attacking demon’s face.
During this Cig was supporting a colossal steeple of a church that was falling on a crowd of half elves while Evad rescued them beneath it. Cig finally dropped the steeple with a vociferous crash. Evad brought the sufferers to secure ledge but distracted in doing so and was knocked unconscious by a spell of spikes thrown from Cavoco himself. Cavoco laughed manically and set a nearby home ablaze.
Cavoco next sent a wave of energy at Gor but he easily absorbed it into the Funeralist and within seconds disappeared within the lustrous metal. Ticked off was Cavoco to have his assail so easily absorbed. He levitated a few wooden rafters and launched them at Gor. Gor jumped out of the way effortlessly because of seeing this move in previous battles.
Unfortunately Cig had not and while decapitating his 30th demon of Cavoco’s he was pinned against a large boulder still conscious to hear Cavoco’s words “I knew you would fail and now your sister and you shall have your life taken from you.”<br>
Gor saw that half of his team had been immobilized. He looked to where Echo was standing and saw that he had been knocked out by toxic fumes that Cavoco’s demons released when slain that affected all elves and half elves. Gor now charged towards Cavoco, leapt high into the heavens and raised the Funeralist high above his head. Cavoco foresaw this attack ages ago and had been chanting an elemental spell using the power of the Sigillum Diaboli.
He beckoned a monstrous lightening whip and disheveled it around Gor’s sword. Cavoco next ripped the Funeralist from Gor’s claws and buried it deep within himself. Now vulnerable Gor had no other alternative but to turn into his full demon form. Stronger was he then but if he resided in his demon form for too long he could kill himself in the process for it slowly ate away at his chance to turn back into a half demon. If he became a demon permanently he'd be a servant to Cavoco.
Cig saw this pinned against the rock hoping that Gor hadn’t forgot what could happen. Cig kept watching Gor fight but Cavoco was too powerful. The battle was endless and Gor eventually became weaker and weaker. Taking a few almost fatal blows occasionally. Cig knew that Gor was dying…
Sigillum Diaboli: New Found Power (ch.4)
Another blow was dealt to Gor’s already bloody and bruised side. Cavoco launched Gor through multiple homes with the inexorable force of the Sigillum Diaboli. Pummeled into the soil was Gor; he heaved chunks of rock and wood off himself. Barely able to move Gor rose up and glared at Cavoco. Cavoco gave a death-giving grin back at Gor. This resented Gor until his eyes turned over pallid. He charged at full speed, claws open, and fangs wide, this was the last and final assault. As Gor was sprinting Cavoco unhurriedly unsheathed the Sigillum Diaboli and pointed it right at the closing half demon. Gor was now at close range for Cavoco to strike, He leaned back and hurled the sword like a projectile at Gor. Not able to contrive the sword impaled Gor right in the abdomen. Blood rained down from the sky in a velvet downpour. Gor plunged to the ground and endeavored to fight the grip of Cavoco was having on him.
“Every second you resist you become more my slave,” laughed Cavoco. “As you become my minion you are welcomed to observe me devour your friends.”<br>
Cavoco first took seized Echo and slid down his fiery hole of a mouth. Cavoco grew even more power as he consumed each of Gor’s comrades. The demon took his time and moved over to Evad. He met the identical doom as Echo. Gor watched in revulsion as Cavoco reached over to Cig. Still awake was Cig and thrashed violently as Cavoco took hold of him. Cig pierced Cavoco’s eye with a small stiletto he concealed beneath his belt. Cavoco was irate with Cig’s insubordination and bowled him into the rocky wall and ground him into it. Gor had seen enough and crawled to his feet, traumatized was Cavoco this mere trivial being rises to exchange blows with him. Cavoco bolted over to Gor using Dead Echo’s and tore the Sigillum Diaboli from Gor. He then sliced a gaping wound across Gor’s back. To make certain Gor would never get up once more he gave him an infinite stabbing wounds in a vast region of Gor’s body.
As Cavoco was doing so he mantraed, “I’m not a cutter, I’m a stabber, the holes along your body?, that will be your little crimson ladder.”<br>
Cavoco was now laughing frenziedly for Gor was now his but Cavoco did not perceive what Gor had been reciting during the whole battle.
Feel the cold upon your face,
Feel the hate within this place,
Feel the bonds that hold you down,
Feel the evils that watch you drown.
Feel the belief you invested in this,
Feel the things lost that you'll miss,
Feel the anger you place inside,
Feel the sanity run and hide.
Feel the faith die within this hole,
Feel the people burn in flesh and soul,
Feel the iron that gashes the skin,
Feel the dark race you cannot win.
Feel the power you stored away,
Feel the light fading every day,
Feel the fire that burns you now,
Feel the control you cannot allow.
Feel the beginning of your end,
Feel the wounds that will never mend,
Feel the demons that you have met,
Feel the bitter, Black Sunset!!!!
As Gor said these last two words the evening sunset turned pitch black and a dark beam arose from it. The beam blew a subterranean opening through Cavoco tearing him into countless guts and organs but his soul still remained and disappeared into the distance along with the Sigillum Diaboli. Drained of energy Gor dropped into the charred earth covered in Cavoco’s body. He had been stopped but for how long? He still held the Sigillum Diaboli and without doubt will use its powers to regain his strength. Echo and Evad emerged from the smoldering crater where Cavoco once stood. Evad went over to Cig and helped him to his feet and Echo did the same to Gor. Gor awoke numerous days later still sore from the battle. Half elves delimited him showed gratitude and offered many gifts. Gor refused and soon fell to exhaustion once more. Cig decided that Gor was unable to continue the journey for a few more days and left in search of his sister with Evad. He knew he had to hurry because Cavoco knew of his betrayal and would not take long to sacrifice Kitt. Echo thought it was best to stay and look after Gor and aid him in his recovery. In the meantime he assisted the half elves rebuild their demolished village. So Cig and Evad left to save Kitt and now had their chance to make their way…..
Sigillum Diaboli: Cannibalistic Beings
Evad followed Cig through the tall, opaque, desiccated grass. Sporadically they had gone astray and Evad used his alchemic powers to unearth his way through. Evad transformed a fragment of dirt into a surge of airstreams clearing a elongated course for Cig and him to trail out of the perplexing grassland they have gotten themselves into. Finally they came to a quagmire region and began to walk through a concrete wall of miasma. A few hours later while Cig was wrenching his leg from a substantial millpond of dark sludge a wave of flames struck Cig unswervingly in the torso. Tossing him yards from where he just stood. A half human arose from the now charcoal highlighted cattails. Evad pulled Cig up from the swampy disarray and fortified him from an additional hellfire harassment from the half human, with his own blizzard canceling out the alchemy.
“Confer me the half demon,” cried the half human. “Capitulate now and you will not suffer.”<br>
“What business do you have with me,” shouted back Cig.
“Well foremost allocate me to introduce myself, my name is Mestine,” replied he. “ I require a half demon like yourself and wielder of the Suiji Staff to be the final sacrifice for my village’s immortal life.” “There are only twelve beings that have mastered that staff and you are the last one.”<br>
“Then you’ll have to take down Evad and I,” said Cig but as he said this thousands of half human materialized behind the fog and so the half human slaughter commenced. Mestine led the attack by torching the whole surface of Cig’s side. Cig countered this by landing a number of hits all over Mestine’s body but Mestine soon put an end to this by discharging Cig away with an orb of shadowy energy. Evad fastened down dozens of half humans into acidic pools of the marsh with the Vengra. He watched them writhe and beg for mercy as their flesh was singed off their frame and eyes were melted from their sockets. Cig was occupied with Mestine, the alpha of the group; he had an abundance of fire alchemy. Mestine eventually had created the whole mire into an inferno leaving no place for Cig and Evad to run. The half scorched bodies that were drowned by Evad rose from the toxic waters pulling the two combatants downward into the murky deep. They awoke chained to a wall in a distant village. Half human guards escorted Cig to the sacrificial ceremony a erected the twelve to be dammed creatures in front of the roaring crowd of half humans. Each creature was meant to be tortured by each high priest from the twelve villages that were now brought to a single city. Cig was last to be tortured, since last captured. Evad was to be boiled alive for the deranged half humans feast after the killing. The first was sacrificed; the first village’s high priest cut out the creature’s stomach enclosed his head in it. This burnt the flesh off its face and suffocated him with the organ. The next was burnt alive by pouring melted iron upon its body as she squealed in agony they next stabbed a long pipe of metal into her spine, slowly tearing it from the body as the corpse imploded itself from the failing support. A sword in each eye impaled the third sacrifice and had its flesh torn off by the cannibalistic half humans. They were insane craving immortal life they lost all sense of civility. As they went down the line sacrificing each wielder of the sacred Suiji bow a tall slender figure watched from the rooftops. It was Poog. Cig’s older brother. The high priest finally reached Cig and held a sword to peel the skin off of Cig’s body. When he rose the sword Poog lunged down from the building and slashed the priest amongst the face. He staggered back bewildered of what occurred. Poog unbound Cig so he was able to defend himself and ripped his staff from the guard’s hands. At once the half humans lunged forward at the two brothers. Millions there were and at once Poog and Cig knew this was a pointless fight.
“Run,” said Poog and so they ran.
“We must rescue Evad,” Cig said as they ran from the closely pursuing Cannibals.
Cig and Poog turned down a damp corridor to where Evad was being held. They bolted into the cell and embraced the door. Cig released Evad from his place. The half humans were now ramming the cell door. Poog could no hold them off forever.
“We must find an escape route,” said Evad.
Poog picked up the chains that once held Evad down and wrapped it around the thick bars that were in the small window of the door. The three escapees tugged on the chain all at once ripping the door from its hinges. The three rode the door for a few feet over the heads of the deranged creatures and began to run once more. Suddenly an advanced half human jumped upon Poog he struggled but wasn’t able to keep up with Evad and Cig and was eventually overcome by the millions of half humans. As Poog went down he refused to be devoured and lit a highly explosive bomb killing a great deal of half humans. Distracted were the cannibals by the major bloodshed and began to feast. Evad and Cig were now safe but at the death of Cig’s brother Poog….
